Wide Open Washington

Politics and hot button issues take center stage on Wide Open Washington with Rob Anthony. The format mirrors the name of the show, with topics ranging what's happening in Congress to what's happening in pop culture http://www.blogtalkradio.com/wideopenradio

I had the pleasure of being Rob Anthony's guest on Wide Open Washington on January 27, 2013. This particular show included discussions on everything from the Manti Te'o scandal to threats being posed by North Korea. Somewhere in the mix, Anthony included a segment with me http://www.blogtalkradio.com/wideopenradio/2013/01/27/wide-open-washington-inauguration-wrap-uphilary-testifies

Anthony peppers his blend of interesting topics with music and humor. Listeners can also glean some useful tips on things such as the housing market and relationships. Anthony's easy going interview style makes both guests and listeners feel welcome. Check out the show for yourself  at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/wideopenradio

OnLine PR UK

One of the greatest mysteries for writers to unravel is the path to public recognition. Figuring out who to query is the first step. That's where services like OnLine PR UK http://onlinepruk.com/
can be extremely useful. In the case of Yikes! Another Quirky Audio Book, I determined that the United Kingdom was the perfect place to market my product. The only problem was, I had very few contacts across “The Pond.”
I spent some time looking into British marketing agencies and decided Andrea Britton of OnLine PR UK was the perfect representative for me. Even though we were on two different continents dealing with a seven-hour time difference, working with Andrea was an easy and pleasurable experience. Within a matter of days, I received a 15 page list of contacts from OnLine PR UK http://onlinepruk.com/packages/

Andrea Britton is well versed when it comes to social media, having navigated the waters as an entertainer and party planner for 15 years. In addition to being a gifted singer and songwriter, Andrea has extensive experience in putting on large events including concerts, corporate outings and weddings. She even runs boat parties on the Thames River – talk about entertainment U.K. style!

If the U.K. Is the place you want your service or product to be showcased, give Andrea Britton and OnLine PR UK a try. I'm certainly glad I did!

NORML-UK

In 1999, NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) www.norml.org
crafted a mission statement in the U.S. to repeal the prohibition of marijuana in favor of responsible use of cannabis by adults. The movement gained traction and 19 states now allow the use of medical marijuana with two states (Colorado and Washington) legalizing it for recreational purposes.

Last year, NORML-UK launched its own initiative to work toward these same goals across the pond www.norml-uk.org In May of 2012, more than 1,000 people attended a event in Cardiff to protest cannabis laws in the U.K. The group established this Mission Statement: “NORML UK seeks to gain recognition for the rights of people to peacefully pursue activities relating to cannabis without unwarranted intervention by the authorities.”

NORML-UK is headed up by Des Humphrey, a citizen who consumes cannabis for medical purposes. However, NORML-UK's “Freedom Charter” also promotes allowing the private use of cannabis for adults without persecution from law enforcement. As with the U.S. Chapter, NORML-UK believes cannabis should be taxed and regulated the same way alcohol is.

The NORML-UK website www.norml-uk.org offers news about cannabis legislation, information about medicinal uses of cannabis, and even a shop where people can buy NORML UK T-shirts and other products. In addition to the website, NORML-UK is using social networking such as Facebook to spread its message www.facebook.com/normluk/

I had the opportunity to work with Chris Bovey, the Treasurer and Webmaster of NORML-UK, on a promotion for my latest audio book, WHEN MARIJUANA AND REALITY TV COLLIDE . . . Yikes! Another Quirky Audio Book. Bovey was kind enough to post an informational piece about Yikes! on the NORML-UK website http://norml-uk.org/2013/01/audio-books-have-gone-to-pot/

In the coming weeks, free copies of Yikes! Another Quirky Audio Books will be available to supporters of NORML-UK. Please visit www.norml-uk.org to find out more.

The Hollis Chapman Show

In a world where consumers are inundated messages, it's hard for authors to stand out in a crowd. That's where people like Hollis Chapman come in. The Hollis Chapman Show http://www.blogtalkradio.com/hollischapmanshow focuses on marketing techniques available to even those on a shoestring budget. Chapman's show airs on Fridays at 10am and features writers, marketing experts, business gurus and life coaches.

Chapman offers a unique spin on marketing initiatives. His mantra for 2013 is, “Have people get to know, like and trust you.” This sounds like a basic concept yet it's one that easily gets pushed aside in the frantic pace of social networking. Chapman understands that the foundation to a successful business is building good relationships with consumers.

Why should people pay attention to Chapman's advice? Because he's used it himself to build a successful career. In addition to his work as an Internet Marketing Specialist for Tempe Lead Generation System, Chapman puts on sports tournaments and has been associated with the Fiesta Bowl for 13 years. As if all this wasn't enough to keep Chapman busy, he also has a blog filled with useful tips on to launch an effective internet marketing campaign http://www.hollischapmanblog.com

I've had the opportunity to appear as a guest on Chapman's radio show on two occasions. His interview style aims to put his guests at ease, while championing their success. Tune in to hear how Hollis Chapman can help your business http://www.blogtalkradio.com/hollischapmanshow

Tough Talk with Tony Gambone

When it comes to sound business advice, sometimes you need a little tough talk. That's where the Tough Talk Radio Network comes in http://toughtalkradionetwork.com/. Founded by Tony Gambone,
Tough Talk offers a number of different shows hosted by business leaders interested in growing their companies and helping others to do so as well.

Tough Talk began three years ago when Gambone started networking with members of the business community in the greater Houston area. Gambone launched an internet radio show which he generously allowed entrepreneurs to use as a way to showcase their projects. Since that time, the Tough Talk Radio Network has added eight more on-air personalities, increased the number of shows being offered and is in the process of expanding even farther.

Gambone's show Airs on Thursdays at 2pm Central Standard time
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/toughtalkradionetwork and includes interviews with marketing experts, authors, money coaches and people involved with social networking. Anyone looking to get their content effectively delivered to the public will find a host of useful tips on this show. I've had the pleasure of being Gambone's guest on two most occasions. Most recently, I appeared on Tough Talk to promote Yikes! Another Quirky Audio Book. Not only did Gambone allow me to an opportunity to visit with his listeners, but he also shared some insightful comments on how to best promote my products. Tune in to hear the interview http://www.blogtalkradio.com/toughtalkradionetwork/2013/01/03/tough-talk-wtony-gambone-w-guest-adele-park-mike-oneal

Rawe Feed Entertainment

Dru Quicc and Michael Precise are bucking the trend when it comes hip, “rawe” entertainment. Although Mike refers to himself as a “White Trash Heart Throb,” and Dru is the “Quick-Draw-McGraw” of the entertainment industry, their radio show, Rawe Feed, offers something often overlooked in the slam-bam-thank-you-mam' world of internet radio. Remarkably, these guys have a genuine desire to help others.

These cousins from Texas aren't just a couple of pretty faces although Michael has an extensive resume modeling for companies like Calvin Klien, DKNY, Old Navy and Perry Ellis. For his part, Dru is an A & R Consultant, offering a kinder, gentler way of helping clients navigate the often brutish waters of the Hollywood entertainment scene. The business philosophy of Michael and Dru is a breath of fresh air as their website http://www.realtalkrawefeedradio.com/ expresses a desire to meet both the personal and professional needs of the musical clients they are promoting.  Rawe Feed Entertainment operates on the assumption that it's more productive to lift people up than it is to put them down.

I had the opportunity to spend the last day of 2012 being a guest on Rawe Feed Radio. I found Michael and Dru to be gracious, upbeat hosts. I had a great time on the show and hope I'll get to be their guests again sometime soon. Happy New Year!

Chasing Dreams in Slovakia

The wonderful thing about the internet is that it allows people from all over the world to connect and share ideas. I had the pleasure of appearing as a guest on Mark Manney's podcast, Chasing Dreams, which he records and edits from his studio in Slovakia http://www.abscondo.com/

Manney allows his podcast to be used as a platform to discuss ideas and tips on achieving goals. Using an easy-going interview style, Manney invites guests to talk about overcoming obstacles and ways to stay motivated. As the frontman in the band, Abscondo, as well as the author of “Love it or Leave It: The End of Government as the Problem,” Manney is no stranger to accomplishing great things in a crowded media market.

Formed in 2012, Abscondo has already been met with great success. The group performs regularly for large audiences in Slovakia and was even featured on a popular TV show. Listeners can check out the band's debut release, “Strangled Into Gray,” for free on the Abscondo website http://www.abscondo.com/ Plans are underway for a new release this year as the band readies for an international launch.

“Love it or Leave It” is a political read which strives to solve the fallacy that government can be ended through government. Directed at Conservatives, “Love it or Leave It” outlines a plan Manney calls “The Total Freedom Act.” Manney has a very interesting YouTube video to promote the book

In a world where most people are too busy talking about themselves to listen to the ideas of others, I found the Chasing Dreams Podcast to be a breath of fresh air. Find out yourself by tuning in https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/the-abscondo-podcast/id365257106
