Welcome to Adele Park's Quirky Audio Books Blog!

If you're looking for a little different take on the audio book industry you've come to the right place! As the owner of an indie studio called Straight to Audio Productions, my products are not attached to
any major studios, publishers or other such important persons. This lack of authority leaves me free to ignore the rules governing mainstream audio books. In fact, I don't even know what the rules are!

If you are a narrator, indie producer or simply a fan of audio books, I hope you'll find my blog a happy place to share your experiences. If you have listened to either Jitters-A Quirky Little Audio Book or Yikes! Another Quirky Audio Book, this blog is also the site where you can find links to reviews of these projects.

It's a great time to be both a listener and an audio book producer or narrator. For consumers, sites like Audible.com make it easy and affordable to enjoy a huge selection of products. MP3 downloads eliminate the need for physical media, which reduces the price and makes it more convenient to enjoy audio books.

Things have also gotten easier for audio book producers. Thanks to editing software such as ProTools, small studios can readily produce broadcast quality sound without purchasing tons of expensive equipment. I've met a few narrators who stay very busy recording audio books in home studios. One topic I like to explore in this blog is how to make small studios even more efficient and user friendly.

I believe the internet is changing the business model for the audio book industry. It's now possible for audio book titles produced by indie studios to be marketed alongside best sellers. Jitters-A Quirky Little Audio Book and Yikes! Another Quirky Audio Book are both available for sale on Audible.com and Amazon.com. I was pleasantly surprised to learn how easy it is to do business with these companies.

I hope you'll come along for the journey as I explore the changing face of the audio book industry. If you have your own studio, please use Adele Park's Quirky Audio Books as a place to blog about your ideas in this rapidly changing business. Narrators may use this site to showcase their talents and offer encouragement and tips to others who serve as voice talent. And for those who are fans of the Quirky Audio Book series, this is the spot where you can find written reviews and links to radio interviews.

Long Live the Audio Book Industry!
